Bitcoin’s Path to $100,000 Hinges on Breaking Key Resistance, Analyst Says
New York, NY – Bitcoin is on the cusp of a potential surge to $100,000, but only if it can overcome a critical resistance zone in the mid-$80,000s, according to Jamie Coutts, founder of Helios Analytics and a commentator for Real Vision. Should the cryptocurrency breach this level, a move to six figures could materialize “pretty quickly,” Coutts stated.
Currently, Bitcoin has been trading within a narrow range, finding support around $81,000, a level that has been defended by buyers on multiple occasions, while facing resistance near $87,000. Some market participants are anticipating a potential decline into the $70,000s.
The Crucial Level for a Six-Figure Bitcoin
Coutts identified the low $80,000s as a significant hurdle, characterized by a substantial cluster of resistance. He noted that three distinct indicators are pointing to this same price area.
Once Bitcoin successfully moves above approximately $85,000 to $86,000, Coutts anticipates that selling pressure will dissipate, paving the way for a price ascent toward the $100,000 mark. “We’re very close to that now,” he commented.
Why Coutts Believes the Bottom is In
Coutts expressed his conviction that Bitcoin has already reached its lowest point. He views any dips, including a potential retreat toward $70,000, as buying opportunities, particularly those stemming from macroeconomic uncertainty. While not exceptionally cheap when compared to its long-term trend, he believes Bitcoin is currently in a price zone where historical pullbacks have represented favorable entry points. This perspective, he noted, extends to other high-quality cryptocurrency assets as well.
He also highlighted the past 12 months as a period of market correction, effectively clearing out excesses. Coupled with sustained long-term support for crypto as an asset class, Coutts suggested that the market is now well-positioned for future growth.
Altcoins Poised to Outperform Bitcoin
In the event of a Bitcoin breakout, Coutts forecasts that the broader cryptocurrency market could see gains approximately 1.5 times that of BTC. He anticipates that the next 12 months could be “extremely good” for the asset class as a whole.
A Word of Caution on Volatility
Despite the optimistic outlook, Coutts also issued a warning regarding potential volatility. He pointed out that the global liquidity cycle is now approximately four years old, a stage that typically sees an increase in volatility and the emergence of challenges. He specifically mentioned U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s understanding of this cycle and the administration’s efforts to manage it.
His advice to investors was to steer clear of leverage, maintain sensible cryptocurrency allocations relative to their overall investment portfolios, and to hold only assets that allow them to “sleep at night.”
