Coinbase and Samsung Forge Partnership to Integrate USDC into Samsung Wallet

New York, NY – October 8, 2026 – Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced a significant partnership with tech giant Samsung, aiming to bring USD Coin (USDC) directly to Samsung Wallet. This collaboration is set to provide over 82 million Galaxy users in the United States with direct access to the stablecoin.

Stablecoin Support Arrives in Samsung Wallet

The integration, slated to begin in the final week of October 2026, will mark USDC as the first stablecoin to be natively supported within Samsung Wallet. This move represents a deepening of the existing relationship between Coinbase and Samsung. Previously, the companies had integrated Samsung Pay as a payment option on Coinbase and extended Coinbase One benefits to millions of U.S. Galaxy users via Samsung Wallet.

Under the new agreement, Coinbase will power the stablecoin experience within Samsung Wallet. USDC will be designated as the default dollar stablecoin for users adding funds to their stablecoin balance. This integration is expected to significantly expand Coinbase’s reach to the substantial U.S. Galaxy user base.

Enhanced Security and Custody for Digital Assets

The partnership extends beyond simple integration, bringing Coinbase’s robust custody system directly into Samsung Wallet. Coinbase will manage the USDC held within the wallet through Coinbase Prime, leveraging its custody services that are qualified by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). This custody infrastructure will also be supported by Bastion, a licensed stablecoin custodian and infrastructure provider regulated by U.S. financial authorities.

USDC is designed to maintain a stable value pegged at 1:1 with the U.S. dollar, backed by cash and short-term U.S. Treasury securities. According to Coinbase, USDC has seen substantial growth, with its circulation increasing by 72% in 2025 to over $75 billion, and the number of wallets holding USDC rising by 59% to nearly 7 million.

Revolutionizing Payments for Galaxy Users

This integration is poised to transform Samsung Wallet into a versatile USDC payment tool. Users will be able to send USDC directly to contacts from their smartphones, eliminating the need for lengthy wallet addresses. Furthermore, for in-store transactions, users will have the ability to make contactless payments using USDC. Coinbase will facilitate these transactions by converting USDC into the merchant’s local currency at the point of sale.

The initial rollout of this feature will be exclusive to users in the United States, commencing in the last week of October 2026.
