Evernorth Holdings Debuts on Nasdaq Amidst Crypto Market Cool-Down
Evernorth Holdings commenced trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange on October 12, following its merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II. The company’s stock, trading under the ticker XRPN, experienced an initial surge, peaking above $19 before settling just under $17. This debut offers a glimpse into how the market is currently valuing a publicly traded company built around XRP, as enthusiasm for crypto treasury stocks has notably diminished.
Trading Performance and Market Context
Data from Yahoo Finance indicates that XRPN opened at $16.68, climbed to an intraday high of $19.39, and subsequently dipped to a low of $16.39. The stock concluded regular trading at $16.91, marking a 1.38% increase on a volume of approximately 1.29 million shares. Trading activity in the after-hours session pushed the stock further to $17.49.
Analyst Scott Melker characterized the listing as a significant test for treasury companies entering the public market since the speculative boom in the sector subsided. “We really haven’t had a major treasury company launch to the public market in quite a long time,” Melker commented. “We all know that the treasury bubble popped and massively cooled.”
Company Background and Funding
Evernorth finalized its business combination on October 9, paving the way for its Nasdaq debut. The company entered the public market holding approximately 473 million XRP and secured around $300 million in gross cash proceeds. The transaction, along with associated private placements, successfully raised over $1 billion, with support from notable investors including Ripple, SBI Group, Kraken, and Pantera Capital.
XRP’s Performance and Trading Dynamics
The stock’s debut occurred while its underlying asset, XRP, remained under pressure. CoinGecko data showed XRP trading around $1.37, a nearly 9% decrease over the preceding seven days. The token was also down 46% year-over-year and trading 62% below its all-time high of $3.65.
Daily XRP trading volume reached approximately $2.17 billion, a substantial 107% increase from the previous day. However, an analysis by CryptoQuant revealed a decline in centralized exchange spot volume by $1.94 billion between August 26 and October 11, with futures trading representing an increasing portion of overall activity.
Investor Outlook and Future Performance
This market backdrop presents a complex scenario for XRPN. Investors are now acquiring shares in a company whose assets and strategic direction are intrinsically linked to the volatile cryptocurrency market, rather than directly investing in XRP itself. Melker suggested that Evernorth’s debut could serve as an indicator of whether a more cautious approach to treasury companies can attract buyers in the current climate, following the cooling of the initial wave of enthusiasm.
“So now we’ll get to see how a wrapper of XRP in a specific merged company trading on public markets will perform versus XRP itself,” Melker had previously posted. In the initial trading session, Evernorth’s XRPN stock closed higher by 1.38%, while XRP itself experienced a 3.5% decline during the same period.
