JPMorgan is reportedly expanding its JPM Coin deposit token to the Ethereum blockchain, a move that will enable institutional clients to conduct payments and settle transactions involving tokenized assets.
The world’s largest bank by market capitalization, JPMorgan Chase, is extending the reach of its JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum, according to a report by Bloomberg on Monday.
JPM Coin represents U.S. dollar deposits held by JPMorgan and allows eligible clients to transfer funds instantaneously, 24 hours a day.
Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs, noted that cryptocurrency companies could leverage the token for blockchain-based payments, while financial institutions might utilize it for trade settlements and posting collateral.
Landriault explained that JPMorgan selected Ethereum due to its established liquidity and existing adoption among clients. Although the tokens will be issued on public networks, JPM Coin will remain exclusively accessible to pre-approved institutional participants.
This expansion follows JPMorgan’s November 2025 launch of JPM Coin on Base, a layer-2 network built on Ethereum by the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase. At the time of that launch, JPMorgan indicated its intention to support additional public blockchains. In January, the bank announced plans to introduce JPM Coin to the Canton Network.
JPMorgan was contacted for further details but did not immediately respond.
