Ripple Holds 35.6 Billion XRP, Rich List Shows

Top XRP Wallets Hold 11% of Supply, Identified Owners Control 60%

An analysis of XRP Ledger balances, conducted on October 13, 2026, reveals that the top 10 XRP wallets collectively hold approximately 11% of the cryptocurrency’s total supply. However, when considering identified owners, the 10 largest entities control an estimated 60% of XRP. This discrepancy arises from distinguishing between individual wallet addresses and aggregated accounts linked to the same owner.

Crypto analyst “cheeky crypto” utilized XRP Ledger account balances and labels provided by XRPScan for the analysis. These labels are intended to identify suspected owners but have not been universally confirmed by all account holders.

The 10 largest XRP wallets hold an estimated 11 billion XRP. The single largest wallet contains around 1.85 billion XRP, with the 10th-largest holding approximately 500 million XRP.

Five of these prominent wallets are identified as exchange accounts belonging to Bithumb, Upbit, Binance, Bitbank, and Coincheck. Collectively, these exchanges hold about 6 billion XRP. Four wallets are labeled as belonging to Ripple, holding approximately 3 billion XRP, while another wallet with around 1.8 billion XRP remains unassigned to a specific owner.

It is important to note that exchange wallets often house XRP from thousands of customers, meaning their balances do not necessarily reflect coins owned by the exchanges themselves.

Identified Owners Command Significant XRP Holdings

According to an updated XRP rich list, the 10 largest XRP holders, when combining all their wallets and Ripple’s locked XRP, own around 60% of the total XRP supply.

Ripple’s accounts and its locked escrow hold approximately 35.6 billion XRP, representing about 36% of the total supply. Upbit follows with an estimated 6.4 billion XRP, while accounts linked to Coinbase hold nearly 5.8 billion XRP across 344 identified accounts.

Cheeky crypto’s analysis estimates that exchanges and custodians account for roughly 22% of the XRP supply. Accounts labeled as belonging to Ripple co-founders Chris Larsen and Arthur Britto hold around 4%, with an additional approximately 2% held in an unidentified wallet.

These figures are estimates derived from explorer labels and are subject to change as account ownership is clarified or existing labels are revised.

Ripple’s Escrow and Supply Dynamics

At the time of the ledger balance check, Ripple had approximately 31.4 billion XRP locked in escrow. This escrowed XRP remains inaccessible until its scheduled release, meaning a ranking based solely on wallet holdings can overlook a substantial portion of Ripple’s total XRP.

Ripple typically unlocks 1 billion XRP each month. However, in the 12 months leading up to October 10, 2026, approximately 700 million XRP per month was returned to escrow, resulting in a net release of about 300 million XRP monthly.

Two escrow accounts, each containing 500 million XRP, are slated for unlocking on November 1, 2026. The amount Ripple subsequently locks back into escrow will be a key factor in determining the net change in its available supply.

XRP Holdings Compared to Bitcoin

The analysis also drew comparisons with Bitcoin. The 10 largest Bitcoin addresses held around 6% of its supply, contrasting with the approximately 11% held by XRP’s top 10 wallets. When examining the 100 largest addresses, Bitcoin held around 15% of its supply, while XRP held 32%.

However, these comparisons are based on address counts rather than verified owners, and a single entity can control multiple wallets. The analysis suggests that Ripple holds approximately 36% of XRP’s supply, a level of concentration not observed among any single identified Bitcoin holder in the comparison.

The presence of large wallet balances alone does not predetermine whether those coins will be sold. Factors such as exchange activity, escrow releases, and transfers to other addresses are crucial indicators to monitor when assessing shifts in XRP supply.
