Samsung Wallet to Integrate Solana for Cross-Border USDC Transfers
Samsung is set to introduce a new feature enabling users in the United States to send money internationally using USDC stablecoins, with availability slated for the final week of October 2026. The functionality will be accessible through Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay.
The rollout is expected to reach 82 million Galaxy devices across the U.S., with plans to expand to additional markets contingent on local regulatory approvals. Solana’s blockchain will power these transactions discreetly in the background, eliminating the need for users to manage separate cryptocurrency tools. Samsung Wallet will also incorporate integrated fiat on- and off-ramps, allowing users to seamlessly convert between local currencies and stablecoins within the app.
Samsung stated that the objective is to make stablecoin transfers as straightforward and familiar as other existing features within its wallet.
Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience business, commented, “Samsung Wallet is about making useful experiences feel simple and intuitive. Stablecoins have the potential to make moving money around the world faster and easier, and we want Galaxy users to be able to take advantage of that without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools. Solana helps us bring that experience to Samsung’s scale.”
This partnership arrives as stablecoin activity on the Solana network continues to surge. The total supply of stablecoins on Solana has grown by nearly 20% year-over-year. In 2026 alone, Solana has facilitated over $5.25 trillion in stablecoin transaction volume. Companies such as PayPal and Western Union are already leveraging Solana for their stablecoin operations.
The announcement has not yet significantly impacted the price of SOL, the native cryptocurrency of the Solana blockchain. SOL was down approximately 3% over the preceding 24 hours, trading near $115 at the time of reporting.
In separate news, the Solana Foundation became a founding member of the x402 Foundation in April. The following month, the Swiss non-profit, in collaboration with Google Cloud, launched Pay.sh. This platform enables AI agents to pay for API services using Solana-based stablecoins, removing the requirement for accounts, API keys, and subscriptions. This allows agents to access services independently, with payments and billing handled automatically through the gateway.
