Samsung Wallet Integrates Solana for USDC Transfers

Samsung Wallet to Integrate Stablecoin Transfers on Solana for U.S. Users

Samsung Wallet is set to enable U.S. users to send Circle’s USDC stablecoin across borders using Solana’s network, beginning in the final week of October, the Solana Foundation announced Wednesday.

The new feature, which will also be available through Samsung Pay, will initially be accessible on 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices. The integration includes built-in fiat on- and off-ramps for conversion to and from local currencies, with Solana’s underlying infrastructure operating “behind the scenes,” according to the announcement.

“Stablecoins have the potential to make moving money around the world faster and easier, and we want Galaxy users to be able to take advantage of that without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools,” said Woncheol Chai, head of the digital wallet team at Samsung Electronics’ mobile business.

Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, commented, “Samsung’s decision to work with Solana puts digital dollars into everyday life through one of the world’s most trusted technology brands.”

Samsung had previously indicated at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London in July that Samsung Wallet would introduce native stablecoin support, showcasing a mockup featuring USDC. At that time, no specific launch date, issuer, or blockchain was named.

While the latest announcement confirms Solana and USDC, it does not specify whether Circle is a direct partner, how users will manage their private keys, or the associated transfer costs.

According to the Solana Foundation, stablecoin supply on the network has grown by nearly 20% year over year. In 2026, the network processed over $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume. The foundation cited PayPal and Western Union as enterprises already leveraging Solana for stablecoin transactions, and noted that Visa has also utilized USDC on Solana for payment settlements.

Samsung first introduced a blockchain wallet for Galaxy phones in 2019 and has since expanded its cryptocurrency offerings to include support on the Galaxy S20, Stellar integration, and hardware wallet connections. In October of the previous year, the company integrated Coinbase into Samsung Wallet for its 75 million U.S. users.

Solana Mobile, the network’s smartphone division, launched the Saga in 2023 and the Seeker last year. The company airdropped its SKR token to Seeker users but not to Saga owners.

Multicoin Capital co-founder Kyle Samani remarked on the announcement, “99% of people thought that [Yakovenko]’s initiatives around phones were dumb. I also thought the same thing for a while,” adding that “the early work on the Solana Mobile Stack” was instrumental in making the Samsung deal possible.

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko responded to this sentiment, stating, “99/100 founder led initiatives are dumb. Doing nothing is also dumb. That’s basically why startups are hard.”

The release indicated that additional markets will follow the U.S. launch, contingent upon local regulatory approvals.
