Securitize Launches Platform for Trading Tokenized U.S. Stocks on Solana

Securitize has launched a platform enabling eligible investors to trade tokenized U.S. stocks on the Solana blockchain. These tokens represent 1:1-backed security entitlements to underlying shares, carrying rights such as dividends and voting where applicable, with transactions settling in USDC.

Securitize said the platform, dubbed Securitize Stocks, differs from products that merely provide economic exposure to stock prices. Each token is backed by an underlying share and represents a security entitlement under UCC Article 8. Investors retain applicable economic and ownership-related rights, including dividends and voting rights where the underlying shares provide them. The entitlements can also be converted into direct shares where issuer-sponsored tokenization is available.

Market Infrastructure and Institutional Interest

The tokenized stocks will initially trade on Solana. Jump Trading will provide market-making and liquidity through Securitize’s Solana PropAMM. Ripple Prime and Aave are among the firms exploring institutional trading, lending, and collateral applications for the tokenized equities.

Regulatory Framework and Future Expansion

Securitize stated that the structure is designed to operate within the evolving U.S. regulatory framework for tokenized securities, aiming to allow regulated secondary-market trading without relying on exemptions. The company indicated that the stocks are expected to expand to the upcoming NYSE digital trading venue and OKXICE Tokenized Securities Venue, subject to regulatory and operational requirements.

Trading will initially be available during extended hours, with Securitize planning to move toward 24/7 availability in the future. The expansion to the NYSE and OKXICE venues is contingent upon regulatory and operational requirements being met.

Why This Matters

This launch signifies a step towards regulated secondary markets for tokenized securities, potentially increasing institutional adoption and accessibility of traditional assets on blockchain infrastructure. The platform’s design aims to comply with U.S. regulations, allowing for regulated secondary trading without relying on exemptions, a key development for the evolving digital asset landscape.

Broader Context

Securitize’s new platform allows eligible investors to trade tokenized U.S. stocks onchain, offering 1:1-backed security entitlements to shares in companies like Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Tesla, and Amazon. These products initially trade on Solana, with transactions settling in USDC, representing a significant development in bridging traditional finance with blockchain technology.
