Tokenized Stock Trading Volume Grows on DEXs, Uniswap Holds Leading Market Share

Tokenized stock trading volume on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) has seen a substantial year-over-year increase, reaching $48.7 billion, according to recent reports. This growth represents a 10,163.7% rise compared to the previous year, indicating a significant expansion of this market segment. Tokenized equities now constitute over 4% of total DEX spot volume in 2026, a notable increase from approximately 0.1% at the end of 2025.

Uniswap has emerged as a leading platform in this market, handling $17.1 billion in tokenized stock trading volume. In the 30 days leading up to late September 2026, DEXs recorded $20.9 billion in tokenized stock trading. During this period, Uniswap’s v4 and v3 deployments collectively managed $12.6 billion, securing a 60.1% market share. Uniswap’s v4 protocol alone accounted for 40.7% of this 30-day volume, while v3 captured 19.4%.

The growth in tokenized stock trading on DEXs is influenced by factors such as 24/7 access, which contrasts with the limited hours of traditional exchanges. To facilitate the trading of regulated assets while adhering to compliance obligations, Uniswap introduced Permissioned Pools in its v4 deployment on July 23, 2026. These pools allow issuers to implement restrictions on participants, offering a compliant way to leverage Uniswap’s liquidity.

New blockchain infrastructure is also contributing to the market’s expansion. The Robinhood Chain, launched in July 2026, surpassed $3 billion in cumulative tokenized stock volume by late September 2026. Other chains, including Solana and BNB Chain, have also played a role in the overall activity.

In the third quarter of 2026, tokenized stock DEX volume reached $7.8 billion. Cumulative figures for the first three quarters of 2026 are estimated to be around $16 billion. However, the figures can shift depending on the reporting window used. For instance, cumulative tokenized stock volume from late 2025 through late August 2026 was reported at $13.7 billion.

Despite the rapid growth, certain uncertainties remain. The reliability of a tokenized share is dependent on its underlying structure, venue, issuer, and the blockchain it operates on. Furthermore, when the same tokenized share is traded across multiple separate pools, liquidity in any single pool can be thin, potentially leading to price volatility for large orders. These factors highlight the evolving nature and complexities of the tokenized stock market on DEXs.
