Worldcoin Surges Amidst Banking and Finance Identity Rollout
The broader cryptocurrency market experienced a slight downturn on October 20, with Bitcoin (BTC) declining by 1.5% and Ethereum (ETH) retreating 2%. In contrast, Worldcoin (WLD) defied the trend, reaching its highest point in a week. The surge was reportedly triggered by the introduction of World ID for banking and finance, a new suite of identity verification technology designed for institutional use.
New Use Cases and Key Partnerships Drive WLD Rally
Worldcoin’s announcement detailed real-world applications for its identity technology, including authentication for Zoom meetings and AI agents. The company also revealed collaborations with prominent financial entities such as Pantera Capital, VanEck Funds, and Bain Capital.
WLD briefly climbed to nearly $0.55 before settling around $0.53, according to CoinGecko. Its market capitalization surpassed the $2 billion mark, positioning it as the 50th-largest cryptocurrency and overtaking established altcoins like Polkadot (DOT) and Aster (ASTER).
Analyst Sentiment Remains Bullish on Worldcoin
Several analysts have expressed optimism regarding Worldcoin’s future price trajectory. Altcoin Sherpa noted that WLD remains one of their active positions, citing a favorable chart and anticipation of further announcements. “I like the chart, I like the coin, and I think they have more announcements to come,” the analyst stated.
Sjuul of AltCryptoGems observed that WLD has successfully retested a high-timeframe trend from above, suggesting the downtrend is over and “the bulls have taken the wheel.”
Crypto Patel offered an even more bullish outlook, predicting a significant price explosion for WLD towards a new all-time high of $12. They outlined micro targets of $1.65, $4.25, and ultimately $12, while cautioning that a weekly close below $0.22 would invalidate the current uptrend.
X user Alex Marzell identified $0.50 as a critical level, suggesting that holding above it could lead to a rise to $0.54, whereas a fall below could prompt a retest of $0.47.
Technical Indicators Signal Potential Pullback
Despite the positive sentiment, the token’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) suggests that bears might be poised to regain some momentum. The RSI, which measures the speed and magnitude of price changes, currently stands at approximately 72. Readings above 70 typically indicate an asset is in overbought territory, potentially signaling an impending short-term pullback. Conversely, readings below 30 are generally considered buying opportunities.
