XRP Price Faces Critical Test as Support Zone Nears
XRP’s price has seen a significant downturn, falling from approximately $1.55 in early October to around $1.17, marking a 27% decline. This drop has coincided with a 12.36% decrease in XRP’s open interest, as traders reduce their exposure amid mounting market pressure. Analysts are now closely watching the $1.10 to $1.15 zone as a crucial support area for potential bullish recovery.
Price Plunge and Trader Sentiment
XRP is currently undergoing a critical test as its price descends toward the $1.10 mark, a sharp contrast to its October high of $1.55. This decline has eroded over 27% of its recent gains, impacting trader confidence, demand for XRP-related exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and the stability of leveraged positions.
The recent price slide has had a ripple effect beyond just the charts, with XRP facing pressure from both individual traders and the broader cryptocurrency market. In the past 24 hours, XRP’s price fell by 2.37% to approximately $1.17, underperforming Bitcoin. This downturn was exacerbated by the forced liquidation of leveraged long positions. The breach of the $1.21 support level triggered further selling, leading to the closure of over $10 million in leveraged long positions.
Open Interest and Market Sentiment Decline
Open interest in XRP has also dropped by 12.36%, indicating that fewer traders are maintaining their open positions. This suggests a cautious retreat from the market as price volatility increases. Market sentiment has similarly weakened, with traders expressing increasingly negative views on XRP. Social sentiment metrics have fallen to their lowest point since July.
ETF Flows Slow Amidst Pressure
The pressure is also evident in XRP ETF flows, which have decelerated. Over the past month, XRP ETFs recorded inflows on only six days, with most other days experiencing outflows or no inflows. Despite this slowdown, cumulative net inflows for XRP ETFs remain substantial at $1.81 billion.
Analysts Divided on XRP’s Future
Despite the prevailing weak market conditions, XRP is approaching a key support zone that could dictate its future trajectory. Prominent crypto analyst ChartNerd noted that XRP’s weekly chart remains weak after breaking below its 10-week support.
ChartNerd highlighted that XRP has fallen below its 10-week support floor and is now seeking a demand zone between $1.16 and $1.04. The analyst pointed to a double-top structure aligning with earlier year highs, with price action capped by key moving averages (20/50-week). ChartNerd warned that a drop below $1.16 could lead to further losses, though a move back above $1.34 could improve the outlook.
In contrast, Ali Martinez adopts a more contrarian perspective. Martinez observed that XRP has broken below the midpoint of its trading channel, bringing the lower boundary near $0.99 into focus as the next potential support level. He also cited weak XRP trading volume and a declining market share, suggesting that a strong rally might be challenging until Bitcoin’s dominance begins to decrease, potentially creating more room for a future reversal.
However, not all analysts share the same level of concern. Well-known crypto trader Dark Defender maintains that XRP’s long-term market structure remains intact despite the recent price drop. Dark Defender identifies $1.12 as a significant support level, noting that this level previously acted as resistance in July and August. He believes this former resistance could now serve as support as the price pulls back, and that XRP is still trading above this critical level.
