XRP ETFs Experience First Down Week in Months
US spot XRP Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have recorded their first losing week in several months, marking an end to a 13-week streak of consistent inflows. For the week ending October 16, 2026, these funds saw net outflows totaling $1.84 million.
This marks the first instance of negative flows since mid-July, indicating that the products navigated the majority of the summer and early fall without a single week of net outflows.
Concentrated Outflow Drives Decline
The significant downturn was largely attributable to a single product on a specific trading day. Canary Capital’s XRPC experienced an outflow of $2.47 million on October 16. This single withdrawal exceeded the total net outflow for the entire week, suggesting that without this particular transaction, the week would likely have concluded with positive net inflows.
The remainder of the trading week was relatively subdued, with other sessions showing either flat activity or modest inflows, including a mid-week gain of approximately $740,400.
Cumulative Performance and Asset Value
Since their launch in November 2025, US spot XRP ETFs have accumulated total net inflows of roughly $1.8 billion. The net outflow recorded last week represents approximately one-tenth of a percent of this cumulative total.
The total net assets across these products currently range between $1.47 billion and $1.57 billion, depending on the reporting date. The discrepancy between cumulative inflows and current asset values reflects the performance of the underlying XRP holdings since the initial investments.
Issuer Landscape Remains Stable
The performance of ETF issuers has remained largely consistent. Bitwise, Franklin Templeton, and Canary Capital continue to lead in terms of inflows and assets under management, while Grayscale and 21Shares are positioned behind them.
Broader Market Context
The downturn in XRP funds was not an isolated event. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana ETFs also reported withdrawals, coinciding with broader volatility across the cryptocurrency market. During this period, XRP itself was trading near the $1.30 mark.
Key Factors to Monitor
Several aspects warrant close observation moving forward:
- Breadth of Flows: Should future outflows occur, their distribution across issuers like Bitwise, Franklin Templeton, Grayscale, and 21Shares, rather than being concentrated in a single fund, would signal a more significant shift in market sentiment. Isolated, concentrated movements are generally easier to discount.
- Canary Capital’s XRPC Performance: A single large redemption could be an isolated portfolio adjustment. However, a pattern of repeated substantial redemptions from the same product might indicate a more persistent trend, such as a major holder reallocating assets or a preference for competing issuers.
- Cross-Asset Dynamics: Given that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana ETFs also experienced outflows, XRP fund movements are likely to continue mirroring the overall risk appetite within the cryptocurrency sector. If the broader ETF market stabilizes while XRP funds continue to see outflows, it would represent a more concerning warning sign than the recent dip.
- XRP Price Action: With XRP trading around $1.30, fund flows and price movements can influence each other. Declining prices may trigger redemptions, which in turn can exert additional selling pressure on the underlying asset.
