XRP Price Tested Amid Rising Social Sentiment

XRP Sentiment Improves, But Price Struggles to Reclaim Key Level

XRP registered 0.92 bullish comments for every bearish comment in Santiment’s October 13 data, even as the token’s price declined by over 9% for the week and faced challenges in regaining the $1.40 mark.

While this ratio has improved from 0.67 at the beginning of October, it still indicates that bearish discussions continue to outweigh positive commentary. In contrast, Ethereum saw a ratio of 2.05 bullish comments per bearish one.

Divergence in Online Attention

This divergence suggests a shift in online attention. Although XRP’s sentiment has become less negative compared to earlier in the month, Ethereum has emerged as the clear social media favorite, while XRP’s price remains under pressure.

Santiment analyzed discussions across X, Reddit, and Telegram, finding a ratio of 0.82 bullish comments per bearish comment for Bitcoin and 0.92 for XRP. Both of these ratios are below 1.0, the threshold where bullish and bearish comments would be equally balanced. Ethereum’s ratio of 2.05 reverses this trend, with bullish commentary approximately double the bearish count.

Ethereum’s Enthusiasm Driven by Multiple Factors

Santiment characterized Ethereum’s reading as indicative of “FOMO” (fear of missing out) territory. Its assessment on October 13 linked this enthusiasm to ETH’s rebound above support levels, demand for staking, and anticipation of network enhancements.

Santiment’s methodology classifies language in online messages as bullish, neutral, or bearish, employing confidence thresholds to determine inclusion in its dataset. These messages do not represent executed trades and do not indicate whether large holders are accumulating or distributing assets.

Social Sentiment vs. Price Action

Therefore, Ethereum’s FOMO serves as a useful point of comparison but is not a price signal in isolation. Widespread optimism can persist as prices climb, or it can dissipate rapidly if the underlying rebound falters. Similarly, an improvement in XRP’s sentiment ratio may signal a decrease in pessimism without necessarily confirming the start of a recovery.

Immediate price analysis for XRP remains focused on the $1.40 area. The token had experienced a decline of over 9% in the preceding week, with this level proving difficult to reclaim as leveraged long positions were liquidated. The sentiment ratio’s movement toward parity has not yet alleviated this price resistance or the pressure implied by the weekly downturn.

On-Chain Activity Offers Context, Not Definitive Signals

While the positioning data offers a potential explanation for the sell-off, it does not quantify the extent of remaining forced selling or indicate an end to liquidation pressure. A sustained move back above $1.40 would alter the immediate technical outlook; conversely, another failure at this level would leave the gap between improving social sentiment and weak price action unresolved.

Earlier network activity also requires careful interpretation. When XRP surpassed $1.60 on September 22, there were 1,917 transactions valued at $100,000 or more and 3,647 new wallets created on the XRP Ledger.

These figures highlight activity surrounding the rally, but large transfers can represent purchases, sales, or internal wallet movements. Neither the transaction count nor wallet additions alone definitively establish directional demand.

XRP’s Ratio Shows Easing Pessimism, Not Bullish Turn

These readings provide a numerical comparison across different assets. XRP and Bitcoin remain below parity, while Ethereum’s bullish-to-bearish ratio significantly exceeds it. For XRP, the shift from 0.67 to 0.92 demonstrates a less bearish conversation, but the token has not yet achieved a net bullish reading.
